【New Work Premier in Macau】

It's been almost one year working on this new work, which is commissioned by 詩篇舞集 Stella & Artists and gonna premier in August this summer in Macau.

Feeling proud and privileged to be working with a group of amazing young artists from both Hong Kong and Macau, including the talented composer and sound designer Lawrence Lau, creative performers Mandy Cheang Albert Garcia Sabrina Wty in such an abundant time frame. Stella Ho's tremendous supports and respect to artists and dance is always cherished and appreciated!

Our ancestors used to imagine the world as flat continents surrounded by the oceans and sky, which fascinated me for its poetry, yet we all now conceive the world around us with different flat surfaces from the angles framed by different media. Perhaps it's an era of virtual world, but meanwhile, it's also an era to look for the real experience in live performances. And therefore, we dance.

從去年九年排練到現在，超過一年的創作旅程有很好的伙伴在身邊，作曲及聲音設計 Lawrence Lau，創作表演者 Mandy Cheang Albert Garcia Sabrina Wty一直的相信和耐性，以及很多的創意。時間這麼長的過程看回來其實感覺很短，亦看到自己不同時期的面向和限制。中間沒有排練的時候在其他項目中遊走沉澱自己的想法，然後再次見面是容許當中的變形生長。有如有機的生命體，畢竟創作面對的是人，大家都在各地汲取不同的養份，滋養了作品本身。

從一開始變成現在的模樣是始料未及的，卻打破了很多預設想像，擁抱了很多當下的抉擇。

《世界（曾經）是平的》延續了對認知的想像的疑問和假定，在數字建構的世界裡我們花了多少真實的時間去理解和面對，然後被其影響和改變。我們都無從逃離當中，人又能如何自處。
