new position as the Associate Artistic Director of Unlock Dancing Plaza

It's my honor and pleasure to be appointed as the Associate Artistic Director of Unlock Dancing Plaza starting from July 2020. I will be curating, fostering, facilitating exchange locally and internationally in the dance sector aiming at creating space for idea exchange, artistic discourse and collaboration between different art forms and medias.

Especially in the challenging time of now, I have a feeling that arts and dance have such a power to sooth our souls, reflect on the situation and empower ourselves as a human being. This is a new beginning of my career as well as Unlock, and I know that there are so much that I need to learn and your supports will be very important. I hope being in this position means I have the space and channel for us as a community to talk more, dig deeper in the understanding of the contemporary society and how dance and performance can be relevant in the time like this.

五年前從英國回來當天剛下飛機，把行李交給到機場接我的哥哥，我就截了架的士。「唔該，新蒲崗五芳街。」那天晚上在後來默默地流了很多汗水的排練室學習《男生》中一段chacha作為甄選最後部分。我還記得當時真的記不來，暗暗地覺得應該選不上了。沒想到後來阿祿打電話給我，約了在荷里活廣場食飯，中間聊了很多。不多久後，他跟我說他選了我，在不加鎖當一年的實習生。一年過去，第二年他再邀請我當駐團的藝術家，一直到現在。當時沒有想像過這數年間和他開展了各種大大小小的合作，參與了不同的計劃，去了很多地方作演出、工作坊，認識了各地的藝術家，在各種的挑戰和創作中找尋共同而行的方向和空間。

在去年另一間餐廳中他提到這個新的合作方式，既是始料不及，亦同時打開了我對舞團發展的想像，亦提醒了我從過去幾年的經歷，對於未來的方向和自己發展階段作檢視。後來在很多次的開會和傾談中我們一起梳理這個位置對於舞團而言是怎樣的一個角色，發揮著甚麼作用，實踐著甚麼期望，畢竟大家都是摸著石頭過河。而有次我提到這次舞團的改變在於本地舞蹈界帶來很大的啟示不在於李偉能和邱加希的加入，而是就著舞團打開了這些位置而有更多承傳、探索、合作的可能和空間，不加鎖不再只等同於王榮祿，而是他相信著的，和我相信著的，以及更多合作的藝術單位相信著的都因著這些新的空間而能夠共存和互相理解，不加鎖這十(數)年間經營建立的價值和方向將能夠以不同的人和方式聚集同時延展。即使不是我在這個位置上，這種開放性仍存活於這系統之中，容許著身份背景經歷各異的藝術家帶來不一樣的視野和經驗。能夠在現有的慣性中思考新的模式並不是件容易的事，而能夠成為第一位擔任這個崗位的人，我帶著無比的榮幸，感激和期待。

一路走來的際遇帶領著我來到這個位置上，看到前面有的是挑戰以及未知的道路。當初記不下chacha舞步的男生到今天仍在邊走邊學，請大家多多指教。
